China Celebrates Arbor Day to Promote Green Growth and Ecological Protection

March 12 marks China’s annual Arbor Day, a nationwide campaign dedicated to tree planting, environmental protection and sustainable development. Established to raise public awareness of afforestation and ecological conservation, the day encourages people of all ages to participate in greening the country.

Each year, government departments, schools, enterprises and communities organize voluntary tree-planting activities. Millions of saplings are planted across cities, rural areas, hillsides and riverbanks. These efforts help expand forest coverage, improve air quality, prevent soil erosion and combat climate change.

Arbor Day also carries important educational significance. It teaches the public, especially young people, the importance of protecting nature and living in harmony with the environment. Many schools hold outdoor planting activities and environmental lectures to inspire students to become guardians of green spaces.

As China continues to pursue ecological civilization, Arbor Day has become a symbol of collective action. It shows that building a beautiful homeland requires long-term commitment and joint efforts. By planting trees today, we create a cleaner, healthier and more sustainable future for generations to come.
